Ferreira (ramo boer AS) - Ferreira (SA boer line)

Once, some years ago, I met a Zimbabwean from South African 'Boer' origin that when listening to my name, Ferreira, looked at me saying: Ferreira is a Boer name!
It is not surprising since some Portuguese from Moçambique ("ç", not "z") took part of the Europeans' 'long journey' by those lands. Boer is a Dutch word for farmer in general, so many other nationalities were represented, and certainly many other Portuguese families, apart of the Ferreiras.
Have you any hint about how to trace back to the Ferreiras who where in the origin of those Portuguese Boers? I mean, the method is obviously the same as for all the other researches of this kind, but any of you have any info about any institution or work done, some published data specifically about families of Portuguese origin?

Uma vez encontrei um zimbabweano de origem boer Sul-africana que ao ouvir o meu nome disse: mas Ferreira é um nome boer! Não me surpreendi, uma vez que alguns portugueses podem ter muito provavelmente tomado lugar entre os Europeus que fizeram a longa marcha pelas terras sul-africanas. Boer é uma palavra holandesa para agricultor e certamente muitas outras nacionalidades estavam misturadas com os boers holandeses, assim como também devem ter estado outras famílias portuguesas além de alguns Ferreiras.
Haverá alguém com alguma ideia de como traçar uma linha até aos Ferreiras que deram origem aos Ferreiras (ou outras famílias Portuguesas) boers? É claro que o método é sempre o mesmo, mas conhecerá algum confrade/confreira alguma obra publicada, alguma instituição que disponibilize informação especificamente sobre famílias de origem Portuguesa?
